FOSS Solar Cells

This announcement affects Solar Cells (part number 190-3472) in the following kits:

Dear FOSS Educator:

We recently discovered that the solar cells included in the FOSS® Matter and Energy National and California Edition kits were missing the leads (wires) in kits that shipped from July through September 2008.

The solar cells are used in Part 1 of Investigation 1: Energy where students investigate different energy sources using equipment including motors, solar cells, tone generators, and candles. The activity can still be completed without the solar cells.

It is also possible that teachers could demonstrate the solar cell by connecting the motor leads directly to the solar cell; however, this may require additional tools for the motor leads to fit securely.

We very much appreciate your business and apologize for any inconvenience. Delta Education will send you one replacement set of two solar cells with leads for each kit under separate cover within
4–6 weeks.
