FOSS Availability Schedule

The Full Option Science SystemTM has evolved from a philosophy of teaching and learning at the Lawrence Hall of Science that has guided the development of successful active-learning science curricula for more than 40 years.

The FOSS/Lawrence Hall of Science development staff and the FOSS team at Delta Education have staged the release of FOSS Third Edition modules with careful and purposeful attention to the content sequences of the modules.

FOSS Third Edition modules are organized into three domains: physical science, earth science, and life science. Each domain is divided into two strands representing core science ideas represented in the tables below: matter/energy and change, dynamic atmosphere/rocks and landforms, structure and function/complex systems. The sequence of modules in each strand relates to the core ideas described in the national framework.

The release of each FOSS module sequence has elaborated content sequences for core ideas in science for the three domains Kindergarten through grade 6. Developing the sequences involves identifying successively more sophisticated ways of thinking about core ideas.

The availability time-frame ensures optimum success for the implementation of FOSS Third Edition modules. The core ideas develop in complexity as you proceed up the columns.
