How FOSS Curriculum Works

Meets NYC Standards

FOSS is a modular science curriculum for grades K-8. Each grade includes a life, earth, and physical science module. Each FOSS module includes 3–6 investigations designed to meet the NYC science content standards. The program provides students access to content in four main ways:

  1. Active Investigation
  2. Reading
  3. Assessment
  4. Technology

Fully Integrated

These components are seamlessly integrated to maximize every student’s opportunity to learn. The active investigations, readings, and assessments in FOSS are cohesive and build on each other to lead students to a comprehensive understanding of the science concepts. Instructional Multimedia Programs (grade 6-8) and websites (FOSSWeb.com and FOSSWorks.com) also support FOSS instruction.
